What is Sucka Nite? Sucka
Nite is a collective and a series of live performances begun in 2001 by
Stacia Beer and Carmella Storniola. In the beginning it was a loose affiliation
of stage performers and wackos who performed in a gong-show setting at
local Seattle clubs. As it turns out, this was not the greatest of ideas
and Sucka Nite took a brief hiatus before rising again in it’s current
form. What IS this new form, you ask? Well, we were a collection of people
who needed yet another creative project in our lives. At 15 strong, we
began by performing our version of A Year Without a Santa Claus.
We then moved on to write and perform 'Saturday Night Live' style shows
at local clubs where we, at least, had fun.
LeMieux
is a comedy not quite about the quest for love, and not quite about barflies
- it resides in the middle where the silliness meets. LeMieux is driven
by misunderstandings, obsession, and bad judgment. The story opens with
two women looking for a good catch at their local bar where, due to a
misunderstanding, they end up hitting on a couple of guys who surely have
subscriptions to the Fortean Times, and quite possibly
Cat Fancy. Dialogue-driven and unconventional, LeMieux ties up quite nicely with smiles all around. |
